Final Reflection:’
The first steps of the unit Design, was to learn rules of designing such as:
->Rule of thirds
->Rule of Hierarchies
->Rule of contrast
->Rule of repetition R
->Rule of Alignment
->Rule of Proximity
We as well learned about the color wheel and which colors effect the idea differently
After learning the rules of design we started sketching out ideas of how our design might look like.
The idea was to create 3 designs of the Ib learner profile. The chosen ones for mine were; Principled, Open minded and knowledgeable.
Learning the rules and uses of color what a go and a no go within the designing rules by not only speaking of the rules but watching movies whether it was good or bad and analyze it. This helped me create here appropriated posters (designs) that will not give somebody a headache by looking at it.
After experimenting with a couple of designs made in Photoshop (which was quiet annoying due to my low Photoshop skills)
I had enough confidence to start my three project designs.
First I sketched out ideas of how id like my design to look like using the rules we learned in previous classes.
I chose to use real people that stand for one of the profiles.
Once I started on Photoshop I had great difficulties using this new program not only to me was it a task of design but also understanding the program itself.
At one point I started losing too much time creating my design on Photoshop trying to create things that seemed almost impossible when I worked at home alone.
I have a certain amount of experience with a program called PhotoScape in which I have fun editing so after all the trouble with Photoshop I restarted using the new program.
I choose Albert Einstein for knowledgeable, John Lennon for open minded and Gandhi for principles.
I used grey colors because from experience I like how those boring colors look like detailed for making one big piece, for this I used a contrast by using the color wheel. I used the rule of hierarchies by first taking the person on the bottom right part throughout all the three designs. I also made there writing become smaller from top to bottom. Using the person on the bottom right shows the rules of thirds as well.
Rule of reputation was hard in process trying to find a proper writing that grabs attention and looks attractive, putting the main word on was as well quiet a long waste of time.
This project helped me a lot. Learning the rules of design will not only help in designing but also in my photography skills as well as when we get to the documentary project. Same with the color wheel in any common projects and pieces of work, this can even help me in my personal project in art.
Going through an annoying and hard time was a learning experience, next time I will more think of what I want to do and follow the idea so I won’t get confused though out the process…
Let the designs and future be better!
